Is Unity Possible?

Is Unity Possible between the many religious organizations of today, the conservative movement, the far-right movement, the moderates, the far-left movement, the liberal movement, and all the other mixes of belief systems, ideologies, and cultures that make up America? How do we know which one is the truth that can unify us? Even the President of the United States gave a speech around unity, and that we need to unite as a country. Is this possible? First, let’s look at the definition of unity provided by the Webster dictionary, i.e., “the quality or state of not being multiple.” So, I ask the question again, is it possible for unity to take place in our current political environment?
The liberal political camp and far left movement, in my opinion, would define unity as having the same ideological identity that they have, or following what they believe. I would ask, what is the basis of truth for this ideology or believe system? It only seems logical, that they should base their concept of unity on some truth somewhere. Right? But from what I can gather, they base their belief system on emotions, the culture, diversity, and their desires to have what they want. Can this unify us? What makes this right versus anyone else’s version of the truth?
I would suggest that unity can only come from principles based on the truth, by following a legal system based on law, and overseen by a system with checks and balances, driven by people of integrity. Where can we find such a system, or such a truth? Many in today’s enlightened society would suggest that such a truth does not exist, that having unity in a society like ours is impossible with so much diversity of thoughts and actions (unless you believe what they believe). Do you agree? Does truth not exist? If it does, where can you find it? Many define the truth differently, but who or what holds the ultimate truth for all people? No matter religion, belief system, political ideology, or the culture/society they come from? Is there even a truth that unites us under one banner, one ideology, and one religion?
Well, I would suggest that there is one unifying force/truth, that being the Gospel of Jesus Christ. How do we learn about this unifying force/truth? By reading the Christian Holy Bible. All other ideologies, belief systems, and cultural/societal norms may touch on different aspects of the truth. But they do not bring to the table a unifying truth. What they bring to the table appears to be division, anger, ego, pride, etc. I would suggest that all these ideologies, belief systems, and cultural/societal norms eventually lead people into darkness, confusion, chaos, and a desire for unrestrained evil (just look at our society today).
John3:19-21 (ESV) “And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and
people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For
everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest
his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that
it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
How do we know the bible is the truth?
2 Timothy 3:10-17 (ESV) “You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom[a] you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God[b] may be complete, equipped for every good work.
2 Peter 16-21 (ESV) “For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain. And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Christians! If you do not believe that the Holy Bible is the truth, the inerrant word of God, you should give it a change. What then do you believe is the truth? Open it up, read it, and ask how does it apply to your life today? What can you take from it and apply to our society’s evil that we are facing? Is the Holy Spirit convicting you?
One reason why our society is in such chaos today is because many in the Christian churches have stopped reading and mediating on their Bibles. The Bible is the TRUTH AND THE WORD OF GOD, it will guide you, it will unify us through the love and truth of Jesus Christ, it will convict you, it will change your life and those around you for the better (what are we waiting for)! Pick the Bible up today, read it, share the truth, and help unify America today!
Agree, as believers we must first have unity with our Father and His purposes. Flowing from that is unity with fellow Christ-followers, as we share the principles found in the Scriptures. Without that common hold on Truth, Matthew 10:34 materializes rather than 10:40.
