The “Cancel Sin Culture”
In society today, there is a movement to cancel culture, to move away from a more conservative Christian-based culture to a more open, lawless, anything goes culture. The liberal political organizations are speaking loud and pushing an agenda of one voice, with a desire to eliminate the market place of ideas and free speech. The end goal of this movement appears to be having one voice and one opinion on how society should be run (that being theirs). Further, they want to eliminate any other voices, opinions, or religions that go against their current stream of thought and ideas. The cancel culture movement is focusing on canceling anything that the liberal political camp and other like-minded people do not like or agree with. For example, trying to cancel or eliminate the presence of law enforcement in large cities, freedom of speech, or pressuring businesses they do not like to close, to name a few. But I think the cancel culture movement really has a deeper hidden agenda not seen by many. This agenda is, in my opinion, eliminating the concept of sin from our culture (sin is an immoral transgression against God’s divine law). One could say that canceling the sin culture is really more what the liberal political organization desire to see happen. As I watch the society decline into chaos, and peer into the window of the so-called cancel culture movement, it becomes clear that they want freedom to sin without being stigmatized or judged as a sinner before a righteous God. The cancel culture utopian dream is freedom to do what they want, without any regard for sin, or consequences for their actions, but freedom to practice life as they see fit (this is an extremely dangerous ideology).
The cancel culture movement, I would suggest, is a direct assault on all forms of religion that teach the concept of sin (especially Christianity). What the political organizations behind the cancel culture movement want is to strike the concept of sin from all forms of religion and the thinking of conservative individuals. They are using every tactic in their books to make this happen. They are ignoring individual rights, openly sinning, shaming those who stand up for the truth, eliminating freedom of speech, and becoming violent when necessary to intimidate and create fear. This is all done in an effort to eliminate the concept of sin from our society and vocabulary. One could say, the liberal political movement and the people supporting it, desires a world without sin, consequences, and they want to eliminate the Christian God from society. This, one could suggest, would be their utopia. Some would ask, what are the benefits of this type of society? Well, look at what they are fighting for? Sexual freedom, Identity freedom, freedom from the law, freedom to kill the unborn, and so on and so on. Further, I would suggest, that they believe if they are free to do all these things, their souls will be at peace. And somehow, if all of us say that sin does not exist (or is okay), then they will feel justified, comforted, and not tormented. I would suggest that many in the liberal political parties are tormented and angry deep down inside due to their actions and way of life, and believe if they eliminate, or do not talk about sin, life will be good (they want to enjoy the light, but refuse to come out of the darkness).
Well, in reality, sin does exist, and no one on this earth can change that. It does not matter what anyone says or does, or what the government says or supports. Sin is sin, and it will not be changed (it is breaking the law of God which is written on our hearts). So, for those who want to cancel the “sin culture,” it is impossible, no matter what they do, or how hard they try. They will be judged, like everyone else, by God almighty. But, praise be to God, that we can be forgiven, by believing in Jesus Christ and the work he did on the Cross!
Romans 2:5-16 (NIV). But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism. All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.) This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.
The only way the human race can receive (no matter the political party) peace and healing from sin, is to put their trust in Jesus Christ who died on the cross as a payment for our sin. If we do so, Christ frees us from the bondage of sin (we go from being in the darkness to being in the light)!
Ephesians 2:1-10 (NIV). As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Christians! We need to stand our ground! You are the only ones who are standing in the way of the cancel sin culture of today. You may ask, what can we do? Well, we cannot allow the cancel sin culture to bias us into thinking that sin is okay. Sin is sin. It breaks God’s heart when we sin. Christ died on the cross to pay the price for our sins. We need to stand up for Gods Truth and Justice, and we should not give into todays "cancel sin culture."
